Spring Trail Ride at Belmead Stables and Riding Club. What a great day for
our biggest fundraising event! This was the third time we have been given access to
the outstanding trail system available at the members-only Belmead Riding Club,
located along the James River at St. Frances/St. Emma in historic Powhatan County.
We rode miles of trails through centuries old hardwoods and traversed creeks on
over 1600 acres of beautiful countryside. Wildlife abounded as we traveled in the
woods, around fields of corn and wheat, along the river, creeks, swamps and long
stretches of open landscape. There's always
something new to see as new trails are added
to the network several times a year. Thanks to
all who showed up to ride and help and to
make this such a successful event.

FUNDRAISERS

Barn Tour Reception - Sept. 25 at Lonesome Dove. Join us for a full
day of fun and support LDEC. A tentative schedule of events includes:
10 - 3: County Barn Tour sponsored by Powhatan County Farm Bureau
11 - 1: Luncheon provided by Powhatan County Farm Bureau at LDEC
2 - 6: Classic Car Show
6 - 6:45: Social Hour Reception
6:45 - 7: Presentation of LDEC Commendation by State Senator John Watkins and
recognition of event sponsors
7 - 8: BBQ Dinner and all the fixings, prepared by Johns Bailey
8:30: Special appearance by Elvis
8 - 10: Entertainment by local talent, Michael Goodwyn
